Shakespeare Returns to Sacred Heart Church Courtyard on September 18th at 2pm - Join Us and bring your lawn chair! In case of rain, we'll relocate to the Parish Center at the corner of Burr and Gage Streets in Winnetka.
Join Us for Party in the Park on October 1
Join us from 6-10pm at Clarkson Park on Willow Rd. in Northfield!. It's a grownups-only fundraiser offering fun games, good food, live music featuring Steely Dad, and a cash bar with beer and wine. Meet up with old and new friends, especially those who have joined the parish since the beginning of the pandemic. Food will be provided by Hofherr Meat Co., with lots of smoky meats and yummy sides. Steely Dad will be in the band shell, and there will be a bar with multiple options for beer and wine. Proceeds from the event will go to the creation of new signage at both our worship sites, as well as other parish expenses. Tickets are $75 per person, and include admission, food, and music. Tickets sales begin mid-September online, and will be sold after Masses the two weekends prior to the event. Volunteers are needed to help with all aspects of the event. To signup and help, click here! The committee planning the event includes Susan and Dan Seeberg, Dona and Tom Carroll, Laurie Bauer, Chris and George Kaiser, Rebecca Wysockey, Rita Compton, Pat and Jim Dietz, Jennifer Mackey, and Liz McGowen. Come and join the FUN! We are collecting school supplies for our two sharing parishes, St. Moses the Black and St. Benedict the African. Items needed include: Book bags, notebooks, folders, pens, pencils, crayons, markers, safety scissors, glues sticks and art supplies.
You can drop them off in the bins in the vestibule of St. Philip or the office vestibule at Sacred Heart on the weekends of June 18/19 and June 25/26. Thank you for your generosity!! Join us on Sunday, June 12 at the 10:00a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Church to celebrate the priestly ministry of Father Dan Cassidy, who is retiring after 44 years of service to the Archdiocese of Chicago. A reception in the Parish Center will follow!
No matter when you attended ALPHA, come join us!
We sure would like to see you! We’ll have a great Alpha dinner, reminisce with each other, reconnect with small groups and maybe start something new! (And who can’t wait to hear an Alpha joke?) RSVP to Liz McGowen at [email protected] or 847-446-0856 x108. If you were not able to join us on Holy Thursday, the video below was shared during Mass. It's referred to as the Mandatum video, because of Christ's mandate or call for us to serve others, as he washed the feet of his disciples. Did you miss the Zoom presentation on the Triduum featuring the three Pastors of our neighboring churches - Divine Mercy, Sts. Faith, Hope & Charity, and Sts. Joseph-Francis Xavier? Click here to view the video recording on Sts. Joseph-Francis Xavier's YouTube channel. Enjoy!

Click here to register. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the Triduum (Latin for Three Days). As the Bishops of the United States explain it: “The summit of the Liturgical Year is the Easter Triduum—from the evening of Holy Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday. Though chronologically three days, they are liturgically one day unfolding for us the unity of Christ's Paschal Mystery. The single celebration of the Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season, and leads to the Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord at the Easter Vigil. The liturgical services that take place during the Triduum are: · Mass of the Lord's Supper · Good Friday of the Lord's Passion · Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord.” You still may ask why it’s three days since the Triduum begins on Holy Thursday and ends Easter Sunday evening. We must remember that these sacred days begin at sundown. Thus, Holy Thursday sundown until Good Friday sundown is the first day. Good Friday sundown until Holy Saturday sundown is the second day, and Holy Saturday sundown until Easter Sunday sundown is the third day. Hence, three days. JOIN US! You’ll learn much more about the Triduum and have the opportunity to “meet” each of the three Pastors of our Tri-Parish grouping: Fr. Marty O’Donovan of Sts. Faith, Hope and Charity, Fr. Steve of Divine Mercy of course, and Fr. Wayne Watts of Sts. Joseph Francis Xavier. We hope to see you on Zoom! |
